Even before the SARS-Covid-19 Pandemic, healthcare leaders knew that burnout was a real problem. Three years since the first diagnosed patient in the United States burnout and its consequences are felt by nearly anyone who has had to interact with the healthcare system. Throughout the pandemic, the presenter was a department director with a front row seat to the problems caused by burnout and challenges in dealing with it. He also was a member of a research group that took the opportunity to study burnout amongst respiratory therapists and what factors impacted it. Listen to him describe the problem of burnout, what factors we know contribute to it, and more importantly how leaders can increase RT wellness.
